Dorothy Jean Vleugel, age 85, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 26, 2015 in Mattawan. She was born on July 2, 1930 in Flint MI a daughter of Albert and Violet (Wyatt) Penzin and lived in Southwest Michigan for most of her life.
Dorothy worked in food service in the Portage Public Schools for many years, retiring when she was 80 years old. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Free Methodist Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson Vleugel; and a son, Mike Bowers.
Surviving are four children, Rick (Janet) Bowers, Jim (Sue) Bowers, Kevin (Jean) Bowers and Kimberly Mann; eleven grandchildren, Michelle Kaler, Tracy (Scott) Boley, Brian Bowers, Bradley Bowers, Bruce Bowers, Terry (Leah) Bowers, Ryan (Heather) Bowers, Ben Bowers, Steve Bowers, Donovan (Ashley) Mann and Devin (Whitney) Mann; many great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Linda Bowers; special cousin, Carmae; and several nieces and nephews.
