Dorothy Versal Hudson, 87, died July 22, at her Bloomington home.

Born on Nov. 15, 1921, she was the youngest child of James A. and LaVina (Clinkingbeard) Brazeal of Ava, Mo. She married Roy Buren Hudson on Jan. 1, 1947, and lived most of her life in Mishawaka, Indianapolis and Bloomington, Ind. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed growing and canning her own vegetables. A gifted seamstress, she made beautiful quilts and worked at fabric stores in Mishawaka, Indianapolis and Bloomington before retiring. She also had a great eye for antiques, and she refinished furniture that can be found throughout the homes of her children and grandson. After retirement, she and her husband made several cross-country trips in their RV with their much-loved dachshund Lady.

She was known in the family for her nearly infallible memory and loved to hear about the lives of her children and grandchildren. No sacrifice was too great when it came to her family. In her later years, she bore her health infirmities and physical incapacity with grace and with courage, setting an example for her entire family. She lived by the saying: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hudson is survived by her husband; daughter Barbara Hudson of Kensington, Md.; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Steven Comiskey of Nashville, Ind.; grandson Daniel Comiskey of Indianapolis; and brother Noel Brazeal of Huntsville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her son Kevin Hudson, granddaughter Kate Comiskey, three brothers and three sisters.
