Dorothy Fae Whitaker Smith was born in Birthright Tx on February 15, 1923 and went to be with our Lord on April 15, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lt Col L.E. Smith Jr (Ret), her grandson James Smith, brothers WT, Hardin Whitaker and wife Jo, sister Frances Heeter and husband Jimmy, and parents William T (Sam) and Fannie Maggie Whitaker,

Dorothy was lovingly called DorFae or Mema. She was a dear sweet woman that you couldn’t help but love. She was loving, kind, and accepting of all who came into contact with her. Even until the end, all the nurses, doctors, and aides who interacted with her commented how sweet, polite, and considerate she was toward them. Even two weeks ago, when she would hiccup, she would bow her head, cover her mouth WITH her Kleenex and say excuse me in a soft tender voice. She thanked everyone that did anything for her. Every sip of water got a thank you.

Mema loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She would ask about them often and enjoyed looking at photos or Facetiming them on the iPhone.
She didn’t quite understand that sometimes it was a video being shown and not real time, so she would talk to the iPad or phone!

When telling us that she loved us, she would start listing out the names in our family and then just say “I love ALL bodies.” Even though we would say our good byes, she would always walk us to the door, blow kisses and wave.

Mema’s legacy will carry on through her children Carollyn, Danny, Gerald, and Ken.

Her Daughters in Love, Nancy and Toni

Her grandchildren Todd, Shannon, Aaron, Justin, Chase and Karlee

Her great grandchildren: Brittany, Lauren, Kate, Blake, Natalee, Kaedan, Ava, Macy, Quinn, and Sloane

Mema… ..
We love and adore you. Who can help but think of you each time we see Hersey’s kisses, peanut M&Ms, and Kleenex?
Thank you for blessing us through the years.
