Dorothy (Dottie) Lee went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 53 years, Jack, on August 16, 2016.

She is survived by her beloved children, Clifton Lee and Starla Lee; two adopted sons, Tom Nelson and Ben Mensay; six sisters, Katie Allison and family, Bette Bateman and family, Roberta Montoya and family, Cleo Valdez and family, Vera Candelaria and family, Lily Lopez; and family and many, many, friends.

Dottie was born in Espanola, NM in the Fairview Clinic and was raised in El Rito, NM.

Dottie was a special, kind, beautiful hearted person. After High school she came to Espanola and worked at the Espanola hospital. She met Dr. Akes and he sent her to Baylor University to become a nurse. When she came home he hired her and that is where she met Jack. Within 6 weeks they were married. I was in the hospital with my second baby and she gave me the proposal news from outside the window of my room. We both wondered how we met such good husbands and handsome too.

They moved to Albuquerque and she went to work for UNMH in 1973 to 1996 where her bilingual abilities proved essential.

Dottie was a beautiful person inside and out and we weren’t just sisters we were true friends.
