Dorothy Vaughn passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010, at Southwest Christian Care, Union City, Georgia. May God rest her soul as she joins the loved ones who preceded her: her husband, (Otis Kirk Vaughn), her parents, (Mr. and Mrs. Carl Albert Dingler), and her sister (Mrs. Evelyn Whitlock).
Mrs. Vaughn was born Dorothy Catherine Dingler on January 11, 1926, in Newnan, GA. She was the second of 2 daughters. She spent her childhood here and was later married to Otis K. Vaughn. The couple eventually opened Vaughn Furniture Company and later Coweta Finance Company on the square in Newnan. They retired in 1966. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newnan. Her favorite activities included playing bridge and traveling with her many friends. She also dearly loved the company of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Otis Scott Vaughn, and wife Mitchie of Newnan and three daughters, Barbara Tinsley of Atlanta, Vickie Johnson and her husband, Al, of Burlington, NC and Beverly Cavender and husband, Mike, of Stone Mountain, GA. She had 8 grandchildren, David & Mindy Cavender of Lexington, SC, Matt & Ginna Cavende of Roswell, Leigh Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Lindsay Johnson of Greenville, NC, Paige Johnson of Wilmington, NC, Tori & Matt Warenzak of Atlanta and Jackie & Mike Kraft of Augusta, GA, and Carson Vaughn of Newnan. She is also survived by great-granddaughters, Bailey & Amber Cavender of Lexington, SC, and Macie Cavender of Roswell.
