Dorothy (nee Bachelder) Bialk, age 98, of Grosse Point Woods, Michigan passed away there on Friday, June 9, 2017. Dorothy was born in Rensselaer, Indiana on September 15, 1918, the daughter of the late John B. and Olga W. (nee Zacher) Bachelder. She was raised in Jasper County, graduating eighth grade from North Newton Township School and with the Class of 1936 from Rensselaer High School.
On June 19, 1940, Dorothy married Robert L. Bialk in the pastor’s study of the Trinity Methodist Church, Rensselaer, Indiana. Dorothy lived for many years in the Barrington, Illinois area. She was an accomplished business woman, working more than sixty years, and was proud of her independence. She was dedicated to her family and friends, and enjoyed keeping current on world and local events.
Dorothy was also an avid Chicago Bears fan. She will be greatly missed by all that loved her. Survivors include three nieces, Lorna (Jud) Utley, Christina (Rick) Strickland, and Karen (Bill) Izor; one nephew, Mark (Marcella) Schantz; two grand nieces, four grand nephews, two great-great nieces, and one sister-in-law, Dorthy Bachelder of Rensselaer. Along with her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, two sisters, Frances Schantz and Norma Gless and her brother, Dean Bachelder.
