Dorothy Babka, 93, formerly of Lakeside, Michigan died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Haven Park Christian Nursing Home, Zeeland, Michigan.
Mrs. Babka was born February 22, 1914 in Michigan City, Indiana to Alfred and Lula (Warner) Mahlka. On October 6, 1936, she married Edwin Babka in Michigan City.
Mrs. Babka loved to bake, and her apple pies were often on the menu when she owned the Cottage Restaurant in Union Pier, Michigan. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and watching the birds.Survivors include her daughter, Dolores VanderAa of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren, George Grosse of Holland, Jennifer (Ladd) Cote’ of Holland, and David (Rhonda) Hoxsie, of Benton Harbor, Michigan; eight great grandchildren and her brother Norman Mahlka of Hernando, Florida.
Her husband, Edwin, preceded her in death on September 28, 1973. Her grandson and his wife, Herbie and Kathy Grosse also preceded her in death, as well as her sisters, Gertrude Orlowski, Caroline Krieghbaum, Betty Loo Schroedor and Buelah Orlowski and her brother, Henry Schroeder.
