Dorothy Nelson Allred, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 16, 2016, surrounded by her family at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of a stroke.
Dorothy was born September 6, 1923, in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, to William Richardson and Margaret Patience Cooper Richardson. She grew up and attended school at Bolling Hall Girls School in Bradford, and later she went to Eastern Idaho Technical College.
Dorothy served as a telegrapher in the Royal Air Force, sending messages by Morse Code in England during World War II . She was honorably discharged in 1945.
She lived in England for 22 years, then moved to the United States, living in Rockland, Malta, Paris and Rigby, Idahom and Fairview, Wyoming. The last 36 years she has been in Idaho Falls.
On February 22, 1945, she married Merlin A Nelson in Blackpool, Lancastershire, England. He passed away in January, 1967. On November 5, 1971 she married Enid W. Allred in Jackson, Wyoming. He passed away in December, 2010.
When Dorothy moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1979, she worked for Autumn Realty and later she and Enid established Gem State Realty. She was also a tailor and secretary.
