Dorothy “Dottie” A. Schlamp, 88 of Freeport died Sunday May 1, 2005 at Provena Nursing Center in Freeport.

Born September 21, 1916 in Forreston, IL and was the beloved daughter of Jacob and Anna (Moring) Snavely. Preceded her in death was her brothers La Verne, and Clarence. She married Neil Curtis in 1935 and they had one son Gary Curtis. Later married Gene Schlamp in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1964.

Surviving is her son Gary (Karen) Curtis of MN. Five Grand children Sue (Gordon) Warneke, IL, Jeff (Terry) Curtis, MN, Kaye (Brad) Garnhart, WI, Greg Piela, TX and Roger Piela, MN. She has seven Great Grand Children, Tiffney, Craig, Jeremy, Ilma, Ashley, Lindsey of IL, and Abby, WI. She also has four great great grand children. Growing up she played the violin and baseball.

She helped send packages to the troops during WWII and worked with the USO. Her many hobbies were golfing, bowling and she enjoyed car racing. She worked over the years for Kraft Foods, Fairbanks Morse, Wagner Printing, and Burgess. She was an avid bowler for 60 years and managed the Four Season Bowling Alley for some years, as well as a bowling instructor. She was entered in the Bowling Hall of Fame because of the number of years she bowled.

She was a member of the Eagles Club and the WIBC. She had a number of close friends in the Freeport area. She will truly be missed.
