Doris Olive McClure, 96, passed away May 4, 2012 at St. Anthony’s North Hospital, Westminster, Colorado.
She was born on May 12, 1915 near Munden, Kansas to Paul and Lottie (Morris) Kettelhut. In early childhood her parents moved to a farm just outside of Chester, Nebraska where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Chester High School in 1933. On March 13, 1938, she married the love of her life, Robert Wagner McClure, in Castle Rock, Colorado. During WWII, while Robert was serving in the Merchant Marine Corpshe lived for a time in California and worked for Douglas Aircraft. After the war, they moved back to Colorado where she and Robert owned several businesses in Lyons, Joes and Denver, CO. She and Robert enjoyed their retirement years in Arizona before moving back to Colorado in 1995. She enjoyed crocheting and crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
She was always a happy person and never afraid to say what was on her mind. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her three children, daughters Sandy (Marv) Martin of Soda Springs, Idaho; Pam (Clyde) Mohn of Arvada, Colorado and son James (Jody) of Sultan, Washington; one younger sister, Louise Buresh of Sandy, Oregon; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her parents, husband, two brothers, four sisters and one grandson preceded her in death.
