Doris M. Walters, age 93 of Fairfield, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Born in Honduras and raised in Santiago, Cuba, she came to the U.S. in the mid 1950’s and resided in lower NYC. She aspired to become a Nurse’s Aide, and found employment at Bellevue Hospital and married Bertrand A. Walters. Several years later they came to CT where Doris took the position of caring for infants prior to adoption. She and her husband decided to adopt a son & daughter; C. Rafael A. Walters and Catherine Walters. In 1969 Doris accepted a position at Norwalk Hospital, where she spent many years caring for the sick. Her nature was to always nurture and give sound advice. Doris loved to travel and she will be greatly missed.
