Doris Maxine Klages was born September 4, 1925 in Melcher, Iowa to Henry A. and Beryl Caviness Fowler. Doris had two sisters, Ruth Box and Marjorie Pulley. Doris married Junior Aaron Klages September 7, 1941 in Unionville, Missouri. Following their marriage they moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Two daughters, Sandra Kay and Delores Ann were born to this union. After Junior drowned in 1946, Doris married Junior’s brother, O.T. (Rosy) on December 25, 1946, at the home of his parents S.J. and Melinda in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
In 1949, Doris and Rosy moved back to Chariton, in 1951, a daughter, Janice Marie was born. Doris spent 30 years working at Regal Stamp Redemption Center, owned by Hy-Vee.
Doris passed away October 9, 2014 at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, sisters, one daughter, Dee Barton and great-grandson, Matthew Shelton.
Doris is survived by daughters, Sandra Shelton and Janice Klages, son-in-law, Ron Barton, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren.
