Doris L. Battefeld, 91, a longtime Meredosia, IL resident died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
She was born June 24, 1930, in Meredosia, the daughter of Alfred and Mamie Hall VanHyning.
She is survived by three daughters, Beverly (James) Fanshier and Tina L. Easley, both of Meredosia, and Diana (Malcolm) Buhlig of Bluffs, five grandsons; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Martin VanHyning of Denver, CO, Darold (Lois) VanHyning of Meredosia; and Wilma Lane of Sebring, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers, Leonard, Robert, William (surviving wife Pat of Jacksonville), Delbert, James and Jack VanHyning.
Doris attended Gospel Tabernacle. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Canasta and Poker. She also enjoyed her morning soap operas, going to Goodwill, and her 4:30 p.m. cup of coffee while listening to WLDS News. She especially loved spending time with her family.
