Doris Jean Misch, 81, of Cassopolis, passed away peacefully Monday, February 3, 2014, in the home her husband, Wally, built for her. She was born Doris Jean Vogel on November 27, 1932, to Arthur and Dora (Lieske) Vogel. Her parents preceded her in death. She was also preceded by an infant daughter, Karoline Jean Misch, and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving at home is her husband of over sixty-one years, Walter H. Misch, Jr., whom she married September 30, 1952 at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi, and her beloved dog, Guido. Doris and Wally have three daughters, Donna Jean Panzica of St. Marys, Georgia, Diane Jean Rodkey of West Lafayette, Indiana, Kristine Jean Roeder of Edwardsburg, Michigan. Over the years Doris has enjoyed seeing her grandchildren grow up into wonderful adults. They are, Tara Pousson, Sister Maria Teresita (Alaina Rodkey), O.P., Johanna Rodkey, Mitchell Roeder, Stefanie Roeder. Doris also leaves behind three great grandchildren, Noah, Neah and Nicoletta Pousson.

Doris worked for a short time in her husband’s business prior to their marriage. She enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and flying with Wally. Every time they would travel to a new place, Doris would bring home a rock from their destination, which, of course, had to be the biggest and best rock that Wally could carry – all of which can still be found at home. Doris enjoyed needlepoint, planting and taking care of her flower beds and watching her lighthouse come to life every night. Most of all she enjoyed being at home, spending time with her family.

Doris had a long and fulfilling life.Per Doris’ wishes, there will be no visitation and her cremated remains will take their place residing at home waiting for Walter to join her.Walter and Kristine would like to personally thank Interim Home Care, especially Barbara and Helen, her home aides, who took care of Doris in a loving way and for making her final days comfortable ones. They would also like to acknowledge Hospice at Home, for helping Doris and the family toward the end, and the guidance and support provided by their cousin, Ellen.
