The Grandest Reunion in Heaven took place on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 when our sweet loving Mother, Doris Irene Cook (Bruner), 86 joined our beloved father, Robert Everett Cook, Sr., to dine and dance together forever again through all eternity. This sacred union complete once more. Doris Irene entered those Golden Gates of Heaven to be with her husband, Bob, at last.
She was the precious gift to Harry and Ernestine (Rickard) Bruner on August 21, 1928 in Gilmore City. She was the first of four children, three daughters and one son. Doris graduated school from Gilmore City High School in 1946. After graduation Doris was employed by Bell telephone as an excellent, friendly and efficient telephone operator.
She met, fell in love with and on June 2, 1947 married the love of her life, Robert Cook in Blue Earth, Minnesota. They soon were blessed with four children, three girls and a son just like her own mother. In fact, her two sisters also had three daughters and one son. After a brief move to Storm Lake they returned to Gilmore City to help Bob’s father run the Gilmore City Lockers.
Bob helped with butchering and Doris became an expert meat wrapper. They even put all their children to work there. They were married for 47 years.
