Doris E. (Belton) McCormick Fisher, 96, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, in Franklin. She was born January 8, 1920, in Acton, to Walter and Mabel (McClain) Belton. She was married to Clarence McCormick for 14 years and they had one son, Daniel (Danny) McCormick. In 1982, Doris married Ralph Fisher, and they spent 26 happy years together.

Doris is survived by her grandson, Jeff (Debbie) McCormick of Plainfield, a granddaughter, Laura (Keith) Gordon of Quincy, and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth (Jacob) Smith, several other great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild, her nephew, Neal (Jody) Belton of Avon, a niece, Mary Jo Lieland of Fountaintown, and several cousins, Alora McClain of Plainfield, Jack (Jean) Henry of Greensburg, and Sharon (Jerry) Nay of Avon.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Fisher, son, Danny McCormick, her parents, and two brothers, Dale and William R. Belton.

Doris moved to Franklin in 1962. She graduated from Sanderson Business College. Doris worked at Johnson County Oil Company for 23 years while also managing Franklin Brokerage Warehouse. In 1976, she purchased and managed the Dairy Queen in Greenwood, retiring in 1986.

She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 439, Franklin. Doris was a member of Second Mount Pleasant Church in Franklin, for many years.  When she married Ralph, they transferred to Tabernacle Christian Church. In 2012 Doris moved to Plainfield, and transferred her membership to Center Community Church, where it remains. She was well known in the Franklin community and had many friends there.

She loved spending time with family and touched many lives. Doris will be greatly missed. In April 2014, Doris moved back to her long-time “home” in Franklin, and became a well loved resident at Morning Pointe.  She enjoyed traveling, fishing, quilting, needlepoint, and spending time with her friends, playing cards.
