Mrs. Doris (Wieck) Anderson, 90, of rural Utica passed away Saturday morning, February 2, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Anderson was born on April 28, 1922 in Peru to Fred and Matilda (Sell) Wieck. She married Robert J. Anderson on August 4, 1946 at Zion United Church of Christ in Peru.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing in LaSalle Class of 1945. She earned her nursing home administrative certificate in 1967. Doris worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, LaSalle in private duty and later at Heritage Manor in Peru as director of nurses and was an assistant administrator. Doris was one of the founders of the Curlerettes at the Waltham Curling Club. She always said “I never had to be asked twice to go golfing”. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Waltham Presbyterian Church, St. Mary’s Nursing Association, the Earlville Country Club, and the American Red Cross.
She is survived by one son, Robert (Linda Zeman) Anderson of LaSalle; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann Anderson Spicer and Karen Lynn Anderson; two brothers, Fred (Dorothy) Wieck of Moorehead, MN and Robert Weick of Peru; 5 nephews and 2 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Anderson on July 22, 2009; two sisters, Irene Schier and Margaret Roman; one great-granddaughter, Sydney Ann Spicer.
