Dorchester was born November 26, 1939 in Louisville, Kentucky a son of Dorchester and Mary (Ferriell) Cheatham Sr. He was a father, a soldier, a brother, a son and a Papa to two grandchildren; Kendel Cheatham and Lucas Moran. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James and Marvin; sisters, Beverly Vestal and Kay (Vic) Burdette; and son-in-law, Eric Moran.
He was survived by his brother, Donny (Joyce) Cheatham; daughters, Carla Moran and Lisa Cheatham-Ferguson (Randy).
