Dora Anselmi Obituary
“A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take”
— Cardinal Mermillod.

On Friday, April 22, 2016 heaven became a little brighter. Our angel mom, Dora Mary Telck Anselmi passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her dear family.

Mom, was born in Reliance Wyoming, to Guiditta and Joseph Telck on June 14, 1923 and was the second of four children.

Reliance was her childhood home, where simpler times included games like “Run Sheepy Run” and “Kick the Can”. She graduated from Reliance High School and her first job was preparing meals for a group of doctors in Wyoming, hence the beginning of her delicious cooking.

She married Leno Anselmi on June 26, 1948 and their legacy began. They lived in Logan, Utah until dad graduated from Utah State University and later moved to West Weber Utah where they raised their family. Later in life she worked at Federal Building and Loan for a number of years.

Mom was a devout Catholic, and loved participating in the St. Madeleine’s Guild of Women who she gathered with monthly. She attended St. Mary’s Parish and was selected “Woman of the Year” in 1999.

She kept her Italian traditions alive especially with her tasty Italian dishes. Our family’s favorite was her Polenta. She was a proud member of The Trentini Italians of Utah and attended many ITTONA conventions

Mom tied a gazillion quilts for Bridget Sargent who donated them to Catholic Charities. She also tied quilts for family, and made many cherished crocheted, embroidery and hand stitched items.

Her life was her family and dear friends. Mom didn’t treasure fancy furniture or nice jewelry, but her home was her castle and her treasure was building a legacy of love. She and dad created a home where their children and grandchildren loved to gather, preferring to go to “Nonna and Nonno’s” rather than to Disneyland.

She will long be known for her strawberry jam and banana bread with chocolate chips, packages to her grandkids, and the checking in phone calls to make sure you were home. But most of all we will miss her sassy and tender spirit. She loved unconditionally.
