Dora Jo Brubaker, 81, died Monday, December 7, 2020 at Mercy One in Des Moines. Due to the social gathering limitations Dora’s service was delayed.

Dora was born July 2, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa to Joseph and Daisy (Clark) Anderson. Dora was proud of her father, who was a friend and teammate of Jack Trice during his college years at Iowa State University. On September 11, 1957 Dora married William “Bill” Brubaker. The couple lived in Waterloo and Bettendorf for many years while Dora worked for John Deere. She retired in 2001 after 25 years of service. Following retirement Dora and Bill moved to Johnston.

Church membership was an important part of Dora’s life. She baked communion bread, served as a Deacon and was involved with children and adult Bible Study Fellowship. Most recently with St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston. In addition to family and her church, Dora loved her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Lily and Daisy.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; children: Sue (Dave) Richardson of Tuscaloosa, AL, Douglas Brubaker of Mesa, AZ, Barbara Brubaker of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Chris (Nichole) Brubaker, Andrew (Jessie) Richardson, Tyler Richardson, Fred (Joanna) Colclough, Pat (Emalee) Brubaker, Will (Mara) Colclough, Rachel Colclough; 4 great grandchildren; and many, many friends. Dora was preceded in death by her parents; son, Randy Brubaker; daughter in law, Janice Brubaker; grandson, Dustin Hansen; and brother, Dan Anderson.
