Dontai Rashad Carter was born on June 10, 1990 to his parents, Norman C. Davis and Jacqueline Carter. Dontai grew up with his big sister Lakeisha. They loved each other like only a brother and sister could. Lakeisha remembers arguing with Dontai because he would watch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and pretend that he was Donatello. She would remind him that he was not a turtle, and that would make Dontai mad. Dontai attended Hallett Elementary, Smiley Middle School, finally completing his education at George Washington High School.
