Donnie “Don” Edwin Lindsey, age 79, of Newnan passed away August 9, 2020. Don was born in Blakely, GA on March 30, 1941 to the late John and Mary Lindsey. He graduated from Coffee County High in Douglas and went on to complete his engineering degree from Georgia Tech. Don was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the 510th Engineer Company of the Army which was tasked with building an airport runway on the beach in Cam Rahn Bay. Upon his return home, Don began his career in earnest at a mechanical engineering firm in Atlanta. He enjoyed a forty-five year long career spent working on a multitude of complex construction projects, including expansions at the Atlanta and Chicago airports and Disney World. Don enjoyed sports of all kinds all of his life. He played basketball in high school for the Douglas Comets, and in his later years he became an avid golfer, traveling to courses near and far. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, and spending quality time at the beach with family. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lindsey. He is survived by his: daughter, Donna Lindsey; sister, Carol Peeples; brother-in-law, Royce Peeples; niece, Lindsey Peeples; and nephew, Justin Peeples.
