Donna Rae “Nana” Jordan

Donna Jordan, age 72, of Tipton, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. She was born on July 19, 1947 to Norman Simms and Martha (Leavell) Simms.

Donna was a 1965 graduate of Windfall High School. She worked for the Dept. of Education, and for Tri-Central schools. A strong work ethic was important to Donna throughout her life. She always saw the value of community involvement. As a teen she was a member of Job’s Daughters. After Donna had children, she became involved in everything her kids showed interest in. 4-H played a big role in the Jordan family. Summer vacations did not exist, because the family was too busy showing animals at the fairs. Donna worked right along side her kids, often times doing the dirty work, to help her children accomplish whatever they had set their minds to.

Donna was an avid sports fan; she was also a great coach. Through the years she coached basketball and softball. She was the president of PTO in Windfall for a time, and she was the president of the Girls Softball League in Windfall for several years. Donna also had the privilege of coaching several individuals throughout her life. Her favorite sporting events to watch were those involving her grandchildren. Nana’s grandkids were the greatest loves of her life. She adored each of them, and took the time to always let them know Nana was proud of them.

Despite being ill for many years, Donna never wavered in her commitment to her family.

Those left to carry on Nana’s legacy of love are her children, Rob (Laura) Jordan, Michele Jordan & Jimmy Tragesser; grandchildren, Jessica Jordan, Brittanie Jordan, Wyatt (Kelsey) McPhearson; great grandchild, Houston Lee McPhearson; brother, Dave (Sony) Simms; puppy, Elvis; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, Norman Simms and Martha (Leavell) Simms; husband, Ray Jordan; sister, Dixie Simms; and grandson, Dylan “D” Jordan.
