Donna K. Johnson (nee Pagliai) was born at home in Madrid, IA on April 13, 1943 to Domo and Agnes Pagliai. Donna met her husband, Douglas W. Johnson of Granger, IA, and fell in love, and married on November 13, 1965. Donna was called home by her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 26, 2021, surrounded by her loving family in her home of 50 years, just outside of Woodward.
Donna was mother to Michelle Richards (Troy), Kirk Johnson (Missy), and Jolene Ingersoll (Jason). She raised her family with love and devotion to her husband of 56 years.
As an RN, Donna was known as a kind and compassionate caregiver. She began her nursing career delivering babies at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry; years later, her calling shifted to care for the elderly. Her experience and expertise in geriatric nursing led to being an instructor at DMACC and as her own businesswoman, consulting with nursing homes across the state of Iowa.
Donna loved spending her summers at their cabin in Minnesota. Donna was a friend to everyone she encountered and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed keeping in touch (gabbing on the phone) with all her family and friends. Donna loved playing bingo with her dear friend Willa. She also loved watching college football and basketball games and cheered equally for both the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes.
Donna is survived by her husband, Doug, her children, grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Joshua, Dakota, Aaron, and Kathryn; step-grandchildren Lesa, Amy, Logan, and Renzi; and five great-grandchildren, whom she loved to have come visit. Donna’s extended family of cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews will all miss her very much.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sisters, Frances and Margaret.
