Donna J. Shanley, 70, of Salem died at 6:45 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Salem Regional Medical Center after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. Donna made a peaceful trip back to Heaven while surrounded by her family. She was born April 28, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Grace Mae (Thomas) Davis. Donna was a graduate of Aliquippa High School and was Presbyterian by faith. Donna held various secretarial jobs throughout her life but her favorite and most rewarding job was being a wife and mom. Donna and her husband enjoyed weekend getaways with friends and their cruises on the open sea. She will be greatly missed by so many people, but embraced with open arms by so many more in Heaven. Survivors include her very caring and loving husband of 49 years, David Shanley, whom she married October 3, 1964; 2 daughters, Holly Ellis and Ronda (Tom) Goetz both of Salem; a son, Wayne (Joanie) Shanley of Vacaville, California; 2 wonderful grandsons, Dillian and Travis Franklin; 2 beautiful granddaughters, Haley and Taylor Stewart; a sister-in-law, Chrissy Davis of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and a brother-in-law, Jim Waddell of Cranberry, Pennsylvania. A sister, Carolyn Waddell and a brother, Glenn Davis, also preceded her in death.
