Donna Harriet (Zabarsky) Kaminsky, 70, of Newington died on Monday, August 18, 2014 at home. She was the beloved wife of Jay Kaminsky for 50 years. Born in Worcester, MA to Blossom (Gurwitz) Zabarsky and the late Charles Zabarsky, she was a resident of Newington for the past 48 years. Donna graduated from the University of Hartford, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education. She worked in the cafeteria of Martin Kellogg Middle School in Newington for many years. In recent years, she enjoyed water aerobics at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA and spending time with the family dogs: Mimi, Jazzy, and Doogie. Besides her husband, Jay, she leaves her four children: Richard Kaminsky and his wife Gloria of Marlborough, MA, Robert Kaminsky and his wife Beryl of Houston, TX, Karen Kaminsky of Newington, and William Kaminsky and his wife Sophia of Arlington, MA. She is also survived by her brother Alan Zabarsky and his wife Temie of Scottsdale, AZ, her sister Marsha Zabarsky of Jamaica Plain, MA, her sister-in-law Rebecca Kaminsky of West Roxbury, MA, and her nephew Adam Zabarsky and his wife Chelly of Berkeley, CA. On Donna’s behalf, the entire Kaminsky family expresses their deepest gratitude to the full staff of the Gynecologic Oncology Program at Hartford Hospital, the VNA HealthCare Hospice Home Care Team, and to all the friends and neighbors who have cared for her throughout her life.
