Mr. Gregory passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Avalon Place in Monroe, Louisiana, at the age of 82. He was born June 15, 1940, in Goodwill, Louisiana, to Esmarda and Elsie Mae Price Gregory. Mr. Gregory was a retired “black land cotton farmer” farming 55 years in Tensas, Madison, and Franklin parishes. He was a former board member of Planters Cotton Seed Oil Mill in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Rayville Producers Cotton Gin in Rayville, Louisiana.
Mr. Gregory is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Gregory; parents, Bill and Elsie Gregory; son, Donald Wilson “Greg” Gregory, Jr.; and grandson, Colby Gregory.
Mr. Gregory is survived by his children, Tim Gregory (Necci), Darryl Gregory (Brenda), Laura Scriber (Mike), and Donna Kay Thompson; brothers, Tommy Gregory (Dolora) and Roger Gregory (JoAnn); and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice, especially his nurse, Erika, Gardens of Somerset staff members Tomeka, Brittany, and LaTonya, and Avalon Place and their staff for the incredible care they provided for Mr. Gregory during the last days of his life.
