Donald Ward Medell
February 27, 1925 – July 5, 2016

Donald Ward Medell returned home on July 5, 2016, to be with his sweetheart. He was born in Ogden, Utah, the son of William Clerance and Wilhelmina Lyon Medell on February 27, 1925.

He married Dorothy Leatha Rock, March 16, 1943, in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 16, 1955. She passed away January 31, 2000. He then married Wilma Stewart on December 2002.

Dad and Wilma served a Temple Mission in Hawaii. They traveled to China, and went on cruises, enjoying each other.

As a younger man he worked with his Dad trucking, and farming. He won many ribbons on his prize steer. He raised cattle, pigs and chickens in Farr West, Utah.
Later he owned and operated his own Trucking Company Don Medell and Sons.

He also raised seven wild children. Don was active in scouting, church activities, Dance Director, and was a member of Les Dancers Dance Club. Together they enjoyed four wheeling on the mountains at Causey, and enjoyed boating, camping, and fishing, but most of all spending time in the outdoors with his family.

He served 20 years as a temple worker, and he loved going to church. He served in many church callings, he loved the youth and taught all the youth in the ward how to water ski.

Don is survived by his four sons, Bill (Pat) Medell, Roy; Ken (Cathy) Medell, Washington Terrace; Frank (Terry) Medell, Montana; Vernon (Terry) Medell, Syracuse; three daughters Marie (Boyd) Wilcox; Roy; Donna (Bill) Stephens, Riverdale; Shirley Eggli, Uintah; 32 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife Wilma and her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, sister Darlene Galbraith, grandson Daylin, and son-in-law Ken Eggli.
