Donald G. Nagle, 86, of Bethlehem, went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2013. He was the husband of Shirley (Lynn) Nagle for 64 years. He was born May 25, 1927 in Allentown, and was the son of the late Effie Mae Deysher Nagle Coleman and the late George R. Nagle. Donald was a 1945 graduate of Bethlehem Vo-Tech. Donald worked for Bell Telephone Company of Pa. for 38 years in Allentown, Bethlehem and Wilkes-Barre as an Installer, Test Center Technician and Test Center Manager. In the late 1940s, he was used as a model for Bell Telephone advertisement showing Donald working on the top of a telephone pole. Upon “retirement” in 1985, Donald embarked upon a second career as Head Driver for Faulkner Motors. He drove over 30,000 miles annually well into his eighties. He retired from Faulkner due to ill health in December 2001. Even as a boy, Donald was always proud of his country, having been honored in his high school yearbook for selling the most War Bonds. He left school early to serve in WWII as a Seaman Second Class in the U.S. Navy in Atlanta, Ga. Donald was a member of the H. Stanley Goodwin Lodge, F&AM, serving as Worshipful Master in 1969 and as Treasurer for 33 years from 1978 to 2010. He was also a Past Grand Tall Cedar and Chief Ranger for Bethlehem Forest #61, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, President of the Cedar Club in Fountain Hill and was a member of Bloomsburg Consistory. He was environmentally conscious, collecting tons of newspapers for recycling and as a fund-raiser for the Tall Cedars Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. He was a member of Edgeboro Moravian Church serving as a Trustee, Elder and member of the Mens Sunday School Class. Donald was also musically inclined performing as 1st Chair Clarinet for the Moravian Symphony in Brass & Reeds during the 1960s, where he also served as President. Donald was an active hunter for much of his life, and was an excellent bowler, bowling in many leagues. His athletic career reached a pinnacle as he was a renowned pitcher in the Bethlehem Mens Softball League and the Bethlehem Church Softball League, finally retiring as a player at age 65. He was a great fan of John Wayne, the Phillies and the Miami Dolphins. In recent years he truly enjoyed attending Iron Pigs Games. Survivors: He will be missed by his loving wife, Shirley; sons, Jack, David his wife Pam; daughter, Jane Martin and her husband Carl; grandchildren, Michael Jankiewicz, Lindsey Jankiewicz Breiner and her husband Dan, and Julie Nagle; step-grandchildren Lynette and Leslie Martin; and step-great-grandchild Shea Valbrun.
