Donald M. Homer, 73, of Jacksonville, IL, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab.
He was born Mar. 5, 1947, in Beardstown, the son of Clifford and Gladys Hall Homer. He married Linda Dorsey on Nov. 25, 1966, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Lisa (Earl) Ballard of Jacksonville; one son, Brian (Tria) Homer of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Jacob (Alece) Brockhouse of Jacksonville, FL, Lori Brockhouse (fiancé Tyler McKenzie) of Springfield, Alex Homer (fiancée Lexi Brewers) of Jacksonville, Lukas Ballard of Hampton, VA, and Tyanne Homer of Jacksonville; five great grandchildren, Madeline Brockhouse, Holden Manns, Bellamy Homer, Harper McKenzie, and Ellie Mae Manns; one step-granddaughter, Phoebe Ballard of Jacksonville; two step-great grandchildren, Hunter McKenzie and Lincoln Daye; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dale and his wife Maxine Homer; and one sister, Judy and her husband Randy Garner.
Mr. Homer spent most of his life buying, selling, and trading almost anything, as long as it didn’t have a title or need to be fed. He was a racing enthusiast, including NASCAR, the World of Outlaws, and Sprint Racing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his beloved dogs, Tobie and Sandy.
