Donald Lee Camp, age 97 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 with family gathered around at his home following a brief illness.

He was born on January 12, 1921 in Niles to Robert and Alta (Schaffer) Camp and was graduated from Berrien Springs High School.  He has farmed all of his life in northwest Niles Charter Township, beginning with the Maple Lawn Farm, and then its successor, Camp Farms.

Don truly enjoyed his lifework of farming, and he worked diligently on each task needing completion.  He was also proud of his farm, keeping the equipment and fields well maintained, and the home farmstead tidy and organized with a carefully manicured front lawn.  His devotion to agriculture, and the professional manner in which he operated earned the respect of his peers, and allowed him to be influential in the local farming community.

On October 5, 1946 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles he married the former Hazel Marie Snouwaert with whom he celebrated last year the remarkable Seventy-first anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes his wife, Hazel Camp and their children, Henry (& Kathleen Joyce) Camp of Fort Myers, Florida, Ronald (& Doris) Camp of Bradenton, Florida, Larry (& Sharon) Camp of Niles, and Dianne Camp (& her husband, Paul Juneau) of Boyds, Maryland; grandchildren, LeeAnn Camp, Darrell Camp, Korey (& Jaclyn) Camp, and Brian Swihart; great-grandchildren Kassidy, Chase, Jolie, and Gage; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings, Donna Richmond and Alden Camp.
