Passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Don was born March 30, 1931 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Rupert and Dorothy (Vorenkamp) Smith and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was the owner of Don’s Sunoco Station at I-94 and 35th Street for 21 years. He also worked for the Brown Paper Company, and Roelof Dairy.

He and his wife Peggy were the co-founders of the Jammin Music Club of Scotts. Don enjoyed singing, dancing, country music and playing his bass. He was a member of the Grand Rapids Flathead V-8 Auto Club and was a collector of classic cars and bicycles, which he had hundreds of both. On January 11, 1958 he was united in marriage to his loving wife Peggy (Purdy), who preceded him in death on March 23, 2007.

Don is survived by his children, Marcy (Loretta) Noora, Barry (Cindi) Noora, Linda (Mick) TerBerg, Jim (Jerri) Smith; 10 grandchildren, Amy, Tammy, Mitchell, Shawny Noora, Tony, Michael, Christopher Noora, Katy TerBerg, Adam and Matthew Smith, 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo (Joan) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
