Donald F. Vail, 84, of McCordsville, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born March 31, 1928 in McCordsville to the late George and Effie (McCord) Vail and graduated from McCordsville High School in 1946.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. First Class in the Korean War. Don was a lifelong Hancock County farmer and a McCordsville volunteer firefighter for over 50 years. He was a member of McCordsville United Methodist Church; the Hancock County Farm Bureau; Board of Directors, Hancock County Farm Bureau Co-op; Hancock County Board of Zoning Appeals; and Town of McCordsville Board of Zoning Appeals.
He is survived by his daughter Donis Vail of Olney, IL; son Dan (Sheryl) Vail of McCordsville; grandchildren Adam Griffy, Jared Vail, and Emily Vail; brothers Jack (Genieve) Vail of McCordsville and Glen Vail of Greenfield. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia; brother Carl Wayne Vail and sister Anna Mae Vail.
