Donald Bernard Charles, 76, of Mooresville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born on January 27, 1945 in Petersburg, Indiana to the late Lowell E. and Garnett L. (Cain) Charles.
Don graduated from Petersburg High School, class of 1963.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he served on the USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier.
Don married Anna M. Lundy on June 23, 2006 in Sevierville, Tennessee.
He was employed early in his life as a truck driver for LTC for 12 years then for Berns Construction Company as an operator and mechanic, retiring in 2006 after 34 years of service.
Don enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and antique machinery and tractor shows.
He loved to spend time with his family, friends, and co-workers. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don was known to be fond of a cold beer now and then!
He is survived by his wife, Anna Charles of Mooresville; four children, Jaymie Charles, Donald B. (Stephanie) Charles II, Jon E. Charles, and Christie (Mike Galloway) Charles, all of Martinsville; five stepchildren, Doug Lehr of Bainbridge, Joni Stevenson of Mooresville, Beth VanBelkum of Gas City, Adam Gosnell of Nashville, IN, and April Gosnell of Franklin; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Mike (Sandi) Charles of Indianapolis and David Charles of Greenwood.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Willoughby.
