Donald Albert Smith, well known real estate developer & home builder, passed from this life on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the age of 89. He was born in Iowa on May 8, 1922. Don & his brother, Harry, were raised by their mother Effie and step-father, Charlie Kelsay. As a young man, Don arrived in the Corpus Christi area and started a successful real estate business. While there, he met and married his wife, Ruth. It was during this time in Corpus Christi that their daughter Linda Sue was born. When Hurricane Carla came calling in September 1961, Don decided the Texas gulf coast might not be the best place to raise his family and relocated to the San Antonio area. He established himself in the area real estate business, and soon had a successful business started.
