Donald A. Luteyn, Sr.

Williamson: Don passed away peacefully on April 28, 2018 at the age of 92.  He was born and raised in Marion, NY to the late Abram and Mary Dayton Luteyn.  Don was predeceased by his wife, Clara Luteyn in 2015 and son, Donald Luteyn, Jr. in 2013.  Survived by his step-daughter, Jacqueline (Dan) McLaughlin of Newark; step-son, Ronald (Debra) Finewood of Marion; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Jill Luteyn of Hartsdale, NY and Christine Luteyn of Ontario, NY; several nieces and nephews, and his four-legged friend, Julie.

Don was born and raised in Marion, NY, where as a young man he began farming. He had a beautiful singing voice and formed a quartet in high school.  The quartet would often sing for many churches and organizations.  As Don grew into adulthood, he left farming and worked construction, operating heavy equipment.  While in retirement, Don returned to farming with his wife, Clara.  Together they raised a menagerie of exotic birds and animals.  Don was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 832.  He was a charter member and first president of the Pioneer Gas Engine Association, incorporated in 1964.
