Dona Marie Kostus, age 91 of Midland, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at her residence with her husband, Robert, by her side.

She was born on May 28, 1930, in Bay City to the late Clayton and Catherine (Williams) Sauve.

She married Robert Kostus in Bay City on November 19, 1949, and she was his “little bouquet” for over 72 years.

Dona was a devoted member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, sang in the choir for many years and assisted in altar care.  In addition, Dona was committed to the local community service Meals on Wheels and volunteering at Chippewa Nature Center.  She was an avid reader, and enjoyed poetry and making scrapbooks for her family.  Dona’s passion in life was her love of gardening and nature which she instilled in her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed picking berries, flower and vegetable gardening, camping, canoeing, and simply walking through the woods.  In later years Dona took pride in her wildflower garden and was especially delighted in seeing butterflies visit her flowers.  Above all else, Dona will be remembered for her love of family.

Surviving are her sons, David (Terry) Kostus, Robert (Daisy) Kostus, Daniel Kostus; daughters, Jeanne Langbauer, Susan (Mark) Smith, Amy Kostus, Brigid Kostus, Dione (Michael) Rush, Elizabeth (Al) Gooch, and Jackie Garcia; grandchildren, Markeen, Reann, Adrienne, Emily, Grant, Janna, Adam, Sara, Ben, Jackie, Chelsea, Anthony, Laura, Tyler, Kristen, Alex, Nick, Maddie; great grandchildren, Leighton, Nolan, Ethan, Issac, Lila, Flynn, Paige, Mason, Elena, Logan, Olivia, Aria, Connor; and siblings, Charles and James Sauve, Madeline Diamond, Joyce (Walter) Whitney, and Carol Sauve.

In addition to her parents, Dona was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Sauve, her sisters-in-law, Eileen Sauve and Linda Sauve.
