Don P. Hemmig, 78, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. He was born January 31, 1944, in Hartley, Iowa, to the late Chester and Erma (Philiph) Hemmig.
Don graduated from Shadle Park High School in Spokane, WA and was a veteran of the Army serving in Vietnam. On November 8, 1967, he married Eva Gipson in Dayton, IN and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2013.
Don worked at Eli Lilly for over 25 years and retired in 1997. He was a member of Stockwell United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #11 and the VFW #1154. Don enjoyed golfing, reading, playing tennis, cooking, coin collecting and bird watching.
Surviving are his children Tony R. (Dawn) Hemmig, Andrea L. (Jason Rider) Walker all of Lafayette, grandchildren Heather (Kyle) Burdine, Kayle (Austin) Bell, James Snowberger, great-grandchildren Khloe, Kinsley, Kylee and Chandler. Don was preceded in death by his brother Dave Hemmig.
