Donald Lanus, age 87, of Algona passed away on Monday September 14, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona, Iowa. Donald Bernard Lanus, the son of Arthur and Irene (Krause) Lanus, was born in Rolfe, Iowa. He graduated from Bradgate High School in 1951. On April 24, 1955 Don was united in marriage with Leona Anliker in West Bend, Iowa. Don served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Shannon during the Korean War. He had worked at Joe Bradley equipment as a parts manager and then as a welder at Snap-On Tools, retiring in 1999. Don enjoyed golfing, fishing, following the Hawkeyes and loved being involved with his grandchildren and their activities. Left to cherish Don’s memory is his wife of 65 years, Leona; children, Cal (Janet) Lanus of Algona, Lori (Randy) Perrigo of Ankeny, Nancy (Jeff) Loeschen of Algona and Steve (Lorene) Lanus of Algona; ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Lanus; and six brothers and sisters.
