Dolores Sanchez, (affectionately known to family and friends as Lola), age 99 and a long time resident of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, Nov. 11th, 2018. She was born in Belen, NM on May 9th, 1919 on a farm to Adolfo and Magdalena Padilla, one of six children, brothers Eddie, Roque, Adolfo Jr., Roque, and Wilfred and sister Valentina. Dolores was the last of the Padilla siblings to pass away.
She will rest with her husband Aurelio Sanchez who passed in 1979. She is survived by her daughter Annabelle Rivera (Louis) of Los Alamos, NM, son LeRoy N. Sanchez (Helen) of Santa Fe, NM, daughter Yvonne Andres (Ron) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and son William Sanchez of Long Beach, CA. Dolores is also survived by nine grandchildren (Denise, Bryan, Rachael, Holly, Conrad, Erica, Tina, Conor and Andrew) and 15 great-grandchildren. Dolores loved each and every one of them and they loved her, too.
Mom’s family, as well as her friends, were the world to her. She made the best red chile, posole, and albondigas which all of us will truly miss. She did pass on her recipes to daughter Annabelle, knowing they would be in safe hands.
Mom was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society.
Mom will be missed so much by family and friends and never forgotten.
