Dolores C. Patch (Grandma Patch) 89, of Great Falls, passed away September 11, 2014 of natural causes.

Dolores was born August 16, 1925 in Golden Valley, North Dakota. She lived in Beulah briefly before moving to Hazen, ND, where she attended grade school. She graduated from high school in Hardin, MT in 1943. She worked in Tacoma, WA in the ship yards and as a riveter during WWII.

Upon her return to Montana in 1950, Dolores married Carl J. Hanson. They divorced after a short time and she was later wed to Nick K. Patch Sr. in San Francisco. The couple moved to Great Falls in 1959. Dolores began working at Eddie’s Supper Club and Gordon’s Restaurant and continued her work as a waitress for the next 25 years.

Dolores was known for her homemade chicken noodle soup; she loved to cook and try new recipes. She enjoyed crosswords, crafts, latch work and always had a book on her nightstand.

Family and friends were Dolores’ love and joy. Her creative mind, gentle heart and brilliant smile allowed her to make everything from the simple stories told to her grandkids sparkle. Gram, you will be so dearly missed!

Dolores is survived by her son, Nickolas K (Karla) Patch Jr.; grandson Dane Patch; granddaughters, Nicole & Devan Patch, Cyndi Lantz, Christine McGlothlion; and great granddaughter Aria Delaney (Nicole’s daughter).

Those who have preceded Dolores in death are her son, Neil J. Hanson and daughter, Sarah McGlothlin and her sister Beverly J. Smith.
