On April 11th, 2019 “He took my hand and took me home”. Dolores (Dee) Gomez was born in Minneapolis, MN on September 6, 1926. We will always remember her as a strong, independent lady who was soft hearted, gentle, feisty, and at times stubborn.

She attended North High School and during that time, she was employed at Schmitt Music Company in Minneapolis repairing instruments. After graduation from high school, she joined an all girls orchestra and played trumpet professionally. The Ada Leonard and her All Girl Orchestra traveled across the USA and played many USO shows.

Later in life, she was attracted to the carnival business and invested in a concession wagon for a few years. When she finally settled down, she was employed by a small office furniture manufacturing company. She grew with the company and was promoted to buyer.

After retiring, she enjoyed the warmer weather and moved to Texas. There she found a hobby making gourds into bird houses and feeders. These items were sold at craft sales throughout Texas.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; Irma (Ullmann) and Thomas Gomez, a half sister; Judy Strand, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

She leaves behind her two sisters; Natalie Thelen of Bemidji and Alita Bruner of Arlington, TX, eight nieces and three nephews.
