Dolena “Dolly” Morrison  was born August 28, 1914, in Englishtown, Nova Scotia, Canada, the daughter of John D. and Christie A. MacDonald MacAskill and passed away December 31, 2010, in Portage, Michigan. Following the death of her parents, she moved to Detroit, MI in 1943 to be closer to family. On December 20, 1944, she was united in marriage to Neil Allan Morrison and they resided in Detroit and then Berkley until 1991 when they relocated to Portage.

They were members of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Portage. Dolly’s kind and loving spirit was exemplified by her gift of hospitality, cooking and baking. Her knitting and crocheting skills resulted in innumerable presents and donations of mittens, afghans, blankets, dishcloths and Dolly’s doilies. Her quiet and steady faith was a beacon to everyone who knew and loved her. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Neil on July 19, 1994. Also preceding her in death was a son, Allan Lemar Morrison and all of her siblings, Annie Primeau, Don MacAskill, Angus MacAskill and Marion Morrison.

Surviving are her children, Joyce Ann John Ruhrup of Kalamazoo, Linda Marie Terry Roose of West Unity, OH and Clifford Michele MacKinnon of Santa Rosa, CA; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Morrison of El Cerrito, CA; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Gibb, Allana Morrison, Logan Morrison, Joshua Ruhrup, Timothy Ruhrup, Abbie Stever, Christie Knapp, Alexis D’Agosta and Matt MacKinnon; 12 loving great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
