Dixie I. Belcher, 84, of Jacksonville died Saturday morning, Sept. 26, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Dixie was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Leary, Texas, the daughter of Dick and Ida Mae Tutt Dismuke. She married L. David Belcher on Aug. 8, 1943, in Valiant, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1997.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen D. (wife, Donna) of Mansfield, David Wayne (wife, Kathleen) of Springfield; a daughter, Ronda Busta of Waxahachie, Texas; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Dismuke of Houston, Texas and Kenneth (wife, Sharon) Dismuke of Sherman, Texas; and a sister, Pauline Belcher of Sherman, Texas. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Garry Busta.

Mrs. Belcher was a graduate of Avery High School in Avery, Texas. She retired from CIPS in Springfield in 1990. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville. She was also a member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Red Hat Society.

Dixie was an avid Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She loved spending winters in Fort Myers, Florida, and working in her flower garden.
