Dixie Ann Green, age 84 of Rensselaer, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Franciscan Health Rensselaer. Dixie was born March 16, 1935 in Rensselaer, Indiana. She was the daughter of Paul E. and Viola Elsie (Beaver) Green. Dixie was raised in Rensselaer, graduating from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1953.
She attended Indianapolis Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her R.N. degree in 1956. She returned to Rensselaer where she worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph College for forty-two years. Dixie later worked at the former Jasper County Hospital as a registered nurse for ten years before she retired. Dixie was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer and the Rensselaer Chapter of Tri-Kappa Sorority.
She is survived by one sister, Elsie Sommers of Seattle, Washington, two brothers, Michael Green of California and Richard Green of Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
