Dinora Guthrie was called to her heavenly home on June 3, 2021 surrounded by her children.

Dinora was born May 7, 1935, in Mission, Tx., the youngest of seven children to Jose Angel Carrejo and Amelia Leal Carrejo. She is preceded in eternal rest by her father and mother, her brothers Adan Carrejo, Jose Nichols and Locho Nichols, her sisters Gloria Kleppinger and Julia Willis.

She is survived by her three children, Robert and wife Teresa, Angela, and Jeana, her four grandsons and their families; Sean and wife Amanda Guthrie, Philip Guthrie, Jacob and wife Anne Wilson, Keegan McGranahan, Zachary, Hannah, Issac, Elise, Austin, Jackson, Jon, Thomas, Grace and Seamus. Her remaining sister Hilda Guerra and many nieces and nephews.

She served her community in many ways. As a board member of Hobbs Rotary Club, she worked for positive community changes.  Dinora was a force of nature and dedicated her life to advocating for those not able to speak for themselves. From early childhood education to creating a safe space for victims of domestic violence, her work leaves a legacy which will continue for years to come. She started the third domestic violence shelter in Hobbs, New Mexico in 1979 and was a founding member of the New Mexico Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She was the only founding director still advocating for victims after 43 years New Mexico.

Despite her great deeds, she was most loved by her children and their families who will remember as more than a mother or grandmother, but as their friend.
