Dick Kruller, 71, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was born June 8, 1946 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, to the late Jacob and Tryntje ‘Trudy’ (Hagendyke) Kruller. Dick was united in marriage to Bonnie Bergman on April 19, 1968 and he was the love of her life, recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Dick was a man of faith as he was raised in the Christian Reformed Church. He loved woodworking and doing home improvements, enjoyed working on cars including a beloved MG and was an avid reader including the daily newspaper, the New Yorker and historical biographies.
Dick graduated from Battle Creek Central H.S. in1965. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western Michigan University in 1971. While he began his career in Michigan, he spent the majority of his working years in South Florida. His passion was building roads, bridges and seawalls. Dick retired from Gimrock Construction, Inc. in 2013, as partner and Vice President. Upon retirement he returned to the Kalamazoo area to be near his family.
Dick is survived by his wife, Bonnie Kruller; daughters, Suzy (Jeff) Posluszny, Amy Kruller and Kindy (Gene Leynes) Kruller; grandchildren, Aidan Deitz, Ella Deitz, Oscar Leynes and Ione Leynes; sister, Christina Van Balen; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Jack and Muriel Westra.
