Dianne Cook Haynes, 71, of Albemarle, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 peacefully in her home.

Dianne was born October 30, 1949 in Surry County to the late John Willie Cook and the late Lois Eugenia Cook.

Dianne was a caring wife, mother, nana, sister and friend. Her life didn’t come to an end with her death. She courageously battled multiple illnesses throughout the last few years and her loved ones will continue to honor her legacy by battling through adversity while maintaining a spirit of humor and fun. Dianne was a natural nurturer and caretaker. She lovingly sacrificed and cared for her family and friends through illness and loss. She was a substitute teacher for years and was beloved of the local students because of her loving spirit of acceptance & fun. Throughout her daughters’ lives she was always involved, from teaching Sunday school to G.A.’s to Girl Scouts. She was a completely devoted mother and grandmother, who showed up to cheer her family on during countless sports events, plays, and recitals. The simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Dianne. She loved a “quiet” evening on the porch with friends, catching up on the neighborhood news. She often explored the local consignment shops looking for a bargain (especially on some cute shoes). She loved playing board games, cooking and going to the beach with the grandchildren. She had the ability to find fun in everyday activities. Her sassy humor was infectious and her class and beauty helped her charm everyone she met. She was loved. She was admired. She was beautiful. She will be missed.

Survivors include high school sweetheart and loving husband of 53 years, Earl Haynes of Albemarle; daughters, Valerie (Scott) Mauney and Cody (Jason) Black; grandchildren, Colton Mauney, Landon Mauney, Piper Black, Weston Mauney, and Kira Black; brother, Roger Cook; sister, Robin Hall; sister-in-law Jayne Crotts; brother-in-law, Dana Haynes; and close friend and neighbor, Patty Furr.
