Diane M. Flaherty-Simmons, age 52, of Plymouth, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Wednesday , February 3rd, at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. Wife of Tyrone Simmons Sr. of Plymouth. The most loving mother of Derek Flaherty and his wife Heather, Tyrone Simmons Jr. and his girlfriend Liz Finlay, Joshua Simmons, Kiarra Simmons, and Janai Simmons, all of Plymouth. Sister of Patricia Flaherty of Plymouth, Kevin Flaherty of Plymouth, Stephen Flaherty of Boston, Brian Flaherty of Boston, Shawn Flaherty of Boston, and the late Tommy Flaherty, and Paul Flaherty. Diane was the grandmother of Alyson, Logan, Giovanni, and the late Aiden, as well as soon to be grandmother of 2. She is also survived by her best friend Veronica Hemingway. Diane was born in Boston on July 16, 1968, daughter of the late Stephen and Ann (Kennedy) Flaherty. She was a graduate of St. Gregory’s High School in Dorchester, and went on to make her career as the manager of Ollie’s Retail store in Plymouth. Diane made it a point to go out of her way to help others. She was so caring to her family, friends, and even strangers. Nothing came second to her children, she was even known as a second mom to her children’s friends. Diane was the life of the party and loved being the bartender for all her friends.
