Devin Jacob Johnson, 21, of Elkhart, passed away at 9:48 a.m. Sunday, May 24, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
He was born Oct. 21, 1993, in Goshen, to Billie Jo Johnson and Jon P. (Jennifer) Davis, both of Elkhart.
Also surviving are his brothers, James P. Johnson of Goshen, Jacob A. Heckaman of Elkhart, Jon P. Davis II of Elkhart, Austin M. and Justin A. Davis, both of Elkhart, and Caiden A. Parrish of Elkhart; sisters Mackayla Greene of Pennville and Gabrielle Parrish of Elkhart; grandparents Dave (Sarah) Johnson of Three Rivers, Mich., Shelly Johnson of Mishawaka and Bonnie (Bill) Davis-Gipson of Elkhart; and great-grandparents Gloria Johnson of Goshen, Darlene (Matthew) Welsh of Rice Lake, Wis., and Walter Welsh of Auburn, Minn. A nephew, Landon Heckaman, survives as well, along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Devin was a 2012 graduate of Concord High School and worked as an automotive painter with Pro Custom Inc. of Elkhart. An avid off-road enthusiast, Devin enjoyed spending time with his friends four-wheeling and mud-bogging in his beloved Ford Bronco, which he lifted himself.
He gave of himself whenever he could, especially when a friend was in need or when someone needed their vehicle fixed or towed. He also had a deep-seated sense of humor and loved the ability to be able to put a smile on anyone’s face.
